CounterFlow Impellers

Mixing Solutions CounterFlow impeller is the most efficient impeller available for specialty mixing applications, and for shear-thinning, high viscosity applications.

Because of its unique dual-action, large diameter design, the CounterFlow impeller is perfect for mixing specialty fluids with viscosities ranging from 25,000cp to 75,000cp and shearing indices ranging from 0.1 to .05.

Greater Pumping Efficiency
The Mixing Solutions CounterFlow Impeller offers a higher pumping rate than conventional impellers because it can efficiently operate at much higher impeller-to-tank diameter ratios. This is of greatest advantage with shear thinning fluids where stagnancy at the wall can be a problem. Conventional turbines require significantly greater power to produce flow at the walls. The CFD model below demonstrates this flow pattern.

Improved Product ConsistencyMixing Solutions CounterFlow Impeller Blade
By pumping both upwards and downwards, the CF impeller disperses fluid more evenly through the vessel, providing greater and more dependable product consistency in shorter cycle times.

Reduced Maintenance Costs
The slower rotating speed of the CounterFlow impeller will extend the life of the equipment and reduce the incremental costs associated with replacing seals.
