APPLICATIONS
1. Crude Oil Blending
To mix two or more different components to obtain a homogeneous blend
in a specific amount of time demands complete bottom-to-top "turnover."
This could be the blending of different crude oils to achieve a certain
specification of Sulfur Content, Density, or Viscosity. To achieve the
desired process results, this demands complete movement throughout the
tank with bottom-to-top "turnover" as well as circulation around
the tank. This ensures the media at the bottom, middle, and top is uniform
by using the Swivel-Angle Mixer(s) set at 10°-Left position. Reference
the CUTLASSTM-S Operations Chart for details.
2. Crude Oil Bottom Sediment &
Water Control
To control or prevent the accumulation of bottom sediment and water (BS&W)
especially in Crude Oil Storage Tank Farms, Refineries, and Terminals.
Demands high velocity circulation in order to completely scour the bottom
of the tank. To achieve the desired process results, the mixers should
be located as shown to ensure that maximum flow can be induced across
the tank bottom to keep it free of BS&W and maintain a clear suction
line. The Swivel-Angle Mixers™ should be operated per the programme
detailed in the CUTLASS-S Operations Chart. Frequency of angle changes
would depend upon the application at each facility. Remember that most
crude oils contain varying amounts of sediment and water that contain
paraffin, heavy ends, sediments of sand & silts, and water. The rate
of accumulation varies with the quality of the crude in storage.
